This weekend I put the shield hardeners back on my Raven and did some Agent 3 missions. I remember why I took them off in the first place now because all of the missions suddenly became far too easy. I guess this means that I can't put it off any longer: I need to talk to an Agent 4.
I'm really not too sure about how well I will last against an NPC battleship at the moment because there are big changes comming to the missiles ingame. I've been up against battleships twice in Agent 3 missions and the first time was a walkover. Actually it was so easy I took it down just using heavy missiles (you only need a few hundred...) but the second time I couldn't stand up against it for very long. The difference? Yep, the lack of shield hardeners that time. As a corp mate pointed out to me at the weekend I have several of the tags needed to get to the battleship stage of the specific mission and so the next time one comes up I'm going to see what happens when I have the correct hardeners and six cruise missile launchers. I suspect that I'll take it down very easily, and if that is the case then it's off to Agent 4s I go.
The big question is how well I can stand up to the more hectic missions on my own. I'm avoiding the spoilers for the missions as much as I can so that I don't ruin the experience, but I guess I can expect a battleship or two surrounded by loads of cruisers and frigates. This is where I get a bit worried as the missile changes mean that my cruise missiles are going to be less effective against smaller, faster ships and it's the small fast ones that have the warp scramblers that prevent you from running away when things all go a bit wrong.
So how worried am I about the missions? Not really at all since at the moment I can missile spam everything that's stopping me from escaping if I need to before the missile changes. How will the changes effect me? Only time will tell, but the changes are worth talking about a bit more tomorrow.
