Time to start playing properly

I've joined a new corp, but I'm not going to say anything about who they are or what they do. This isn't a site that is affiliated with them in any way so you'll see no bragging/bitching about anything related to them here. Yes, I do have to mine. you never know, I might even train up for a mining barge. In the mean time I went out and grabbed a Drake. That's one nice looking ship and I'm going to throw it at some agent missions to see how well it stacks up as soon as I can get...

A good week for BoB so far

So BoB struck lucky and took down ASCN's Titan. They also took the 3rd Alliance Championship, but that wasn't as much to do with luck. Why was the titan luck? It was unmanned which means that the pilot had either logged out or crashed to desktop. I'm not going to comment on which is more likely but they got lucky because they would have had to take longer to take down with somebody in it. I suspect that that Titan was doomed no matter what because it does seem to have jumped to a safe spot before it was...

Hauling FTW?

Since lowsec combat missions are now more dangerous does that mean that the fastest way to make money as an empire carebear is doing lowsec level 4 hauling missions? With jump to 0 you travel really fast and even if you loose your hauler they're still really cheap. I suspect that only a few actually pay well in reality, but they're all going to be much faster than completing Worlds Collide nowadays. If this is right then I might go away and have a little cry. Salvaging and the new gangs

As a good mission runner I use a dedicated ship for loot gathering. I will admit that I haven't given much thought up until now as to what ship I should really be using so I was just using industrial ships (Badger2 mainly). With the introduction of salvaging I decided to actually think about it and went out and got me an Exequror. It's got a very large cargo bay (base 600m3 with and extra 10% per cruiser level) and 4 high slots. My current loadout is 2xtractor beams and 2xsalvagers and so far I have to say that it's not that...

Some comments on the Revelations patch

It's early days yet, but with the addition of the changes in the Revelations patch I find that my entire play style has been changed so much that it looks like missioning is no longer a viable option for casual play. We'll see how they change this with future patches, but so far I believe this is the state of play: Low sec missioning is too dangerous because pirates can now scan for you far more easier and this is obviously easier than gate camps when warp to 0 is in the game. Yes, there's meant to be risk but...

Revelations

I've only had a quick play with revelations so far and I currently think the following: Bye bye Instas. The new warp to 0 is great and so hopefully we'll not see people using hundreds or thousands of Intsa bookmarks any more. You not get the choice of travelling slowly as before using the autopilot or fast by navigating manually. I miss barrels. Now when you blow something up it leaves a pile of scrap which has no way of saying if there's any loot in it, or marking it as looted. This is very annoying and being fixed...
