A new Exiled card: Emergency Shield Generator

There's a new card preview this week, and it's one that's been submitted by a player.

 

So let me see, for 6 ISK you get a starbase structure that can be played by anybody. gives +1 ISK and +4 shields. What's more it can't be the target of news cards so is pretty hard to destroy or prevent. The downside is that it can only be played on an upgraded starbase. Now isn't that just the biggest problem ever? Let me present to you this card, the cornerstone for one of my Amarr decks, the reclamation tower:

Now in order to pull this off you need to throw juggernaut platforms at the upgraded starbase and then kill the return to hand ability by playing Mind Clash on it so that the shield is high for the victory conditions.

Well now I don't need to because I can throw some emergency shield generators down and they're pretty pretty hard to get rid of, but I'll need an extra generator than I would need juggernaut platforms in order to get to the magic 20 shields so I'll probably just end up mixing and matching. That just leaves the Guardian/Punisher rush into outer regions and there you have a victory condition.

Of course there may be new cards to help counter this, but at the moment my deck is looking a lot stronger than it did. The most interesting way to counter it so far is to get above 20 shields before the amarr guy and hold more regions, but that's a bit specific and will hurt your deck in return. It'll be interesting to see what the other cards to be revealed can do against this deck, which is looking quite strong at the moment.
