NT Times says next Wednesday

According to the NY Times http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/28/arts/television/28eve.html?_r=1&pagewanted=2&oref=slogin the patch is next Wednesday.   Just don't expect to be able to get the extra graphics patch that day with the way the servers are going to get hammered!

More New Eve Graphics

I don't know... You do your monthly post and then CCP go and make an announcement right after. What's there to say? They're rolling out the new graphics engine on Test now. Don't think it's all 100% up and new yet, but it's a start! Sounds like it's the more architectural bits and not the updated ships, but it's well worth checking out anyway.

Ah, politics. It's why we play Eve and as I shuffle up the management tree in my corp I seem to get more and more of it. In a good way of course. Well the POS division complaining about carrier nerfs is a little stressful, but a Jump Freighter or two will keep them happy. Fanfest news

It looks like the interesting news from fanfest today is that Eve Mac and Linux support launches Tuesday (yay) and Eve Voice is now going to be free. Both of those things make me happy.

Richard Bartle at Fanfest

Richard Bartle (he of Mud fame) is at fanfest and he was speaking about the council of players idea. Basically he thinks it's not going to work as proposed. I'd agree with that, and the reasons he states are all sound. I'd like to think that his worries about being insensitive are unfounded, CCP seem like nice enough people and the players are (mostly) pretty mature and intelligent and his point on democracy is right on target, it will just cause problems down the line.
