UK iTunes TV support is live

We now have TV on iTunes in the UK. About friggin time! Front page is nearly 100% Lost though, which isn't a good sign!

Dynamic resizing of images

Dynamic resizing of images?  How cool is this? OK, it's changing the photo so that it's no longer a true representation of the scene and so could be used for evil, you wouldn't want to use it to judge what an actual location looks like for instance, but this has lots of uses for stock photography and the like.

Space Giraffe

I'm really glad I live in a world where a big company like Microsoft can release game like Space Giraffe still. The KLF references are a bit strong (is that a bad thing?) and I'm still not sure I actaully understand what's going on, but I'm pretty sure that the game is pure genius. I suspect it's a game that you either get or don't get. Try to make the effort to get it. Mu Mu. See, it helps if you like the KLF.

My new iMac

My 24" iMac turned up today. First thoughts: It's all really high quality but I'd rather that ejected CDs were cool enough to touch. Also 24" is massive and makes my TV look too small, but Logic Pro really needs that much screen. Note to self: write enough music to pay for new computer. Next up is bootcamp, I can't get by without running visual studio and Parallels just doesn't quite work well enough for real coding if you want and xbox or a robot to be involved.

Brian Eno

Have a random video from Brian Eno talking about Ambient 1: Music for Airports. The world needs more ambient music.

I remember when I used to own PCs

On the way: One nice new 24" iMac to replace my PC, which has developed the little problem of only turning on the graphics output about one time in 7 tries. Yes, it'll get bootcamped but I'm going to use crossover and Parallels as much as I can to try to avoid this. Eve Online will run under Crossover, Parallels for Office 2007 and most of Visual Studio, but bootcamp will certainly be needed for XNA and possibly Robotics Studio. It'll be nice to have my music setup always available as I'm running it off my Macbook Pro at the moment...

I'm sure this really should be a PS3 review instead of XBox

In this day and age I expect to be able to download demos from the internet. It's that simple, I have no need to buy computer game magazines beyond Edge and so it was with a certain amount of general background annoyance that I braved a proper shop and grabbed a copy of the September issue of the official XBox magazine. Why? Yes, the desire to roll more Katamari. The comic is from the excellent xkcd.com, go read it. So why an exclusive demo on a magazine? A desperate attempt to make people buy it I think. Words...

BBC iPlayer and the XBox 360

The BBC iPlayer application gets really interesting when you add and XBox 360 into the mix. Since the files are in WMV format the 360 can play them back no problem, although you'll have to use the media player extender if you want to stay legal and not strip the DRM. All you need to do is make sure that Media Center is running on your PC that you do the downloading on and that it's monitoring the directory with the files in and they'll appear on your list of videos on the extender (your 360 in this case). The...

BBC iPlayer

I got an email from the BBC saying I'm on the iPlayer beta. Great I thought then looked at my desk with one Vista PC and two Macs on it. Putting my faith in the fact that the XP only clause will be for limiting the testing to start with rather than any major technological problem I made IE pretend to be IE6 and installed the installer with XP compatibility set. This all worked perfectly and next thing you know I had an episode of Doctor Who (Last of the Timelords if you care) downloading. After a while of it...
