From Stratics:

"The Stratics Media Group is proud to announce the title of 404 Gaming’s upcoming Hip-Hop MMORPG: Hip-Hop Legends. Adam Ghetti, Senior Creative Director and co-founder of 404 Gaming, describes Hip-Hop Legends as “what Electronic Arts wanted The SIMS to be”. The game, to be released in 2005, will be an innovative product offering a unique experience to the Massively Multiplayer Online Gaming community."

I'm not quite sure what to say here, but bear in mind that regardless of what EA wanted the game to be, The Sims Online turned into some kind of Lord of the Flies, Dante-esque vision of suburban dystopia, highpoints of which included 12 year old cyber-sex brothel owners and roving mobs of thugs going around and burning down houses for not paying protection money. By comparrison, Planetside is good clean fun!

How much worse could a game based on hip-hop, and presumably, gangster rap, go?

"...damned greeks? I mean diversification is all very well, but it's simply not good enough. Well, regardless, I think I shall be more successful. You see, everyone knows that if you cut one of it's heads off, two more grow. But what about the tail! I predict one of two outcomes: It dies - huzzah - add one to the kill-list....or...it grows two new tails. Or, maybe the chopped off tail grows another seven heads as well? Hmm. Perhaps I need to carve it's middle bits out first? I'm beginning to wish I'd stuck to vampires now... - Journal of the fifth, and last, Lord Cobshot-Smythe of Chorton Basset.
