In the grand tradition of having not much of interest in my own life to offer:
Something From Stratics
I can just see it:
"So what the hell is so important as to pull me away from my golf?"
"Well, your honor, I think it's something to do with computer games, and comic books.
"Ya say what?"
"Yes...the case is being brought by a company that draw super hero cartoons for kids, you know, Spiderman, Superman, that sort of thing."
"Spider-who?"
"And the defendant runs an internet computer game where kids can pretend to be a super heroes 'on-line'"
"Inter-what?"
"But the prosecution have played the dendendant's computer game and made super heroes that are a lot like the ones in the comic books, and now they want lots of money from the defendant."
"But these super heroes belong to the prosecution, right?"
"Er, right your honor."
"Well that's fine then; the comic people made the comic super heroes, not the computer game people. The comic book people own these own heroes, and can make 'em in this computer game thing if they want."
"Er, right your honor."
"Jeeze, these computer game people are wierd. Throw it out. See you in the clubhouse!"
Intellectual Property is all very well, but every time one of these ridiculous court cases hits the news, it just makes us all look even more stupid in front of the Normal People...
