Well, after a hectic few weeks of campaigning, spin and speculation, the results are finally in:

EQ2 Site: Poll Results

I missed the poll myself, being too busy with Operation Cheapseats to play EQ2 recently, but apparently it came in the form of a set of incomprehensible, unreadable and unanswerable questions in a pop-up box. (N3rfed has screenies)

Looking at that, I'm not entirely sure what the question is, but suspect it's not something that can be answered by 'True' or 'False', and I can't believe anyone would offer 'Don't Care' as a serious customer survey choice. Still, the results of that, somewhat bizzarrely translate to these results:

  • Only one third of players are for the Exchange service.
  • Only a quarter of players would use it.

(Odd...this means that 1/12th of all players approve of it, but don't want to use it. Weirdoes.)

All in all, a somewhat bewildering survey, but largely academic, as the entire thing most likely exists just to show 'we care what the players think', rather than for any serious market research purposes. It'll happen regardless. Remember kids, the only real poll worth answering is "Van Hemlock's Choice"...put up and shut up, or unsubscribe. (This does rather require that game developers be somewhat psychic, but then they're being paid and we're not, so that's fair.)

Some notes there about how the movelogs are going to happen. Actually, despite all this fuss, it doesn't seem like it'll affect most players much at all. 75% of the existing populations on all servers will just carry on as usual, now freed of a shortcutting minority who have lost the meaning of 'game' somewhere along the line. It's not all bad, I guess. Hurrah for democracy!

Oh, and in other news, Tony Blair is elected for a third term.
