Ha…that didn’t take nearly as long as the event designers planned, I bet. Never under-estimate the power of the catass!
AFK Gamer: Medivh Wins World of Warcraft!
Foton has the details, but basically, Medivh server has farmed its way to victory, completing the big server resource hunt event. Predictably enough, every one on the other servers all went to have a look, causing server overloading, and requiring GM intervention and a ban on new characters. And there wasn’t anything to see anyway – there’s a five day buffer on the thing actually happening – a thinly disguised attempt to let everyone else catch up I guess.
It seems a shame really – I appear to be in a minority of one in actually liking the whole idea, and I’ve spent most of the time since it was patched in, staring at Runetotem’s ‘Server Full, Go Away’ message, and doing just that - playing other stuff instead.
I am in no hurry to max out my crafting skills, and quite enjoy harvesting anyway, so the rare evenings I have been able to play, the hand-ins work out quite well for me – actually turning up quite useful gear for my level and class – decent plate drops seem quite rare, I’ve found. But I can understand that the whole thing may seem a little patronising though, if you aren’t in an uber-raid-guild:
Plaguelands: Public Information Notice!
As a result, a great many low-to-mid level players on most servers seem have decided to take this rare opportunity, and capitalise on the desperation of the uber-guilds, by putting their lowbie hand-in resources on sale on the Auction House and making them pay through the nose for their extra content. Fair play to them I guess – it’s not often players more than five levels below the level cap actually matter…seize the moment.
As far as I can tell, it doesn’t matter that much – the Gates will be opened on all the servers sooner or later. Well done to Medivh for being Teh Firstest, but really, the impressive act of organisation and planning would be ensuring that the Gates don't open; anything else is an enevitability. However, if you really must take your raid-guild out to farm Syphilitic Dungbeetle-O-Saurs NOW!1!, then it’s going to be down to you guys alone:
[5. Looking For Group] Peacebloom Barrens Raid forming! LF39M! Herbalist Only!
I suspect that forty Lv60s turned out in The Barrens or Redridge Mountains, complete with Epic Mounts, can pull in a huge amount of Copper Bars, Peaceblooms and Light Leathers, if they really want to. Make a night of it! You know, folks in EVE Online do this kind of project all the time…
