Carnival time again, this time at Games.Slashdot:
Games.Slashdot: The Carnival of Gamers
Frankly, I was dubious about this when it showed up in the Buttonmashing list (link on the left), since their usual comment thread response to any mention of this ongoing project is a not particularly subtle blend of ridicule and dismissal, leaving one with the impression that Slashdotters are just too cool for blogs, and indeed, school. Come the day, and my apprehension seems to have been well served, turning up a comment thread of people who would probably be a lot more relaxed if they didn't make themselves regularly visit gaming sites they apparently seem to hate.
It's a hobby I guess, but it is a shame because this Carnival seems to be one of the most diverse and varied to date, covering all manner of topics, and featuring a great many new names on the list. Do go look, but take my advice and bail before you hit the comment thread - it'll just be ten minutes of your life you'll never get back.
I'd like to say 'I told you so', but in all fairness, I have a great deal of respect for any gaming blogger that submitted posts for this particular Carnival. I breifly thought about it, but decided that, in the end, I could do without that kind of crap. I'm so weak. But don't take it personally if you did post - I've been visiting Slashdot for some time now and they do rather seem to hate everything there, so it's not just you...
The next one should be more clement, and is at Prognosticator's place: Virgin Worlds, in a month, and remember 'Anonymous Cowards', before your inner Oscar Wilde steps up to the Add Comment button with a pithy 'u r teh suxx0r!1', think...
