Anyone who chooses to mine asteroids in EVE Online can quite definitely be said to have 'too much time on their hands', I've always thought:

EVE News.com: Building a Model Rifter

Links there lead to a set of printable PDFs, which look like they work best on 160gsm paper. It's actually quite impressive that such a complex 3D object can be made in this way, and the Rifter - a Minmatar top-end combat fighter-type vessel, is one of the more asthetically pleasing of the ships on offer. Judging by the massive feedback on the forums, it's possible that other ships may be forthcoming, although most likely only Caldari and Minmatar models, since the Amarr and Gallente designs tend to be far too heavy on the curves.

It's a shame it's come to this though, since CCP have been talking about a range of die-cast models of the ships being offered through their store for some years now, and I was actually quite keen on getting a couple. I guess they couldn't get a supplier for them. Still, EVE is that kind of game - with players so involved and motivated that they'll just go off and do this kind of stuff anyway. Even more remarkable is that fact that this guy, and his handicrafts, will probably end up featured in CCP's next 'EON' magazine edition. If only all MMO companies were as open and friendly. For CCP though, it really does seem to be a dialogue...
