From the post-bag:
Hi there.
I also stumbled across your blog, a couple of times infact, during my sad trawling expeditions for Raider Wars.
A little while ago I snapped, and now I'm modding Allegiance into Raider Wars. Since this blog is like the only active site except mine that has anything to do with RW anymore, I decided to spam it. Watch... !
You can see the ongoing results of my delirious crusade here: Raider Wars: Epilogue
Whee! Wasn't that fun?

A comment in response to this previous post.
Not only am I going to hold off the ever-vigilant comment-thread spam-pocalypse cleansing fire, I thought this noble endeavour was worth a post of it's own. As previously noted, it does rather seem that Raider Wars bullied Google at school or something - Google is clearly trying to forget the game ever existed, and it's entirely possible that less than one hundred people in the world even remember the ancient title, so anything I can do to help is fine with me.
The project looks to be based on the Microsoft Research title Allegiance, itself an abandoned project finished off and made freely available by 'The Community', and a testament to the kinds a passion that only a really decent game idea can evoke. I gave Allegiance a go some time back, but never took it online, as I had real conceptual troubles with the flight engine in single-player mode, finding myself barely able to control my ship, let alone fight. It uses a very 'realistic' Newtonian model which, with perseverence, must be quite spectacular to dogfight with. My hazy memories of Raider Wars tell me that it used something similar, which makes the Allegiance platform an ideal starting point in this chap's endeavour.
Very much a project driven by one-man's passion, there isn't an awful lot there at present. I'd suggest a few screenshots, if available, since being the shallow admirer of shiney-things I am, that's usually the first sidebar tab I look for on any MMO site. If anyone else arriving here remembers Raider Wars, and knows a thing or two about the dark voodoo of software-smithing, I'm sure the chap there would love to hear from you, so head on over and leave a note.
Anyway, keep at it, and in the words of beleaguered civil-servant Palpatine, "We will watch your progress with great interest."
