Back the more normal kind of thing here:
Van Hemlock Podcast (Ep62): An MMO Too Far
More news, and some mini reviews too, with me having given this a go:
Sword of the New World: Granado Espada
And the Cohost having spent a bit of time in here:
Runes of Magic
Mixed reactions, all in all, with me being pleasantly surprised with mine, and the Cohost deciding that he never wants to play another MMO ever again. More on my own experiences to follow, as usual, but in the interests of fairness, the Cohost will be doing something a bit different form now on, rather than giving any MMO I point him at 0 out of 10 on principle!
Look out for a new feature from show 64 onward, where he hunts down the brightest and best on offer here:
XBox Live Community Games
I'm sure he'll go in to more detail over at Chimps In Space.
It did all make me wonder actually; his general lack of interest and patience with many of the basic conventions that most of us take as read in any MMO are not new things, and I doubt there was anything specific to RoM that drove him away from the genre as a whole. Makes me wonder if I'm not the odd one here, putting up with all manner of stuff that The Normal sblink at in disblief, working on the recieved wisdom that 'It's an MMO, they're supposed to be like that!'. I wonder how far behind him in my own genre-wide ragequit I really am?
Anyway, not there yet, so it's Vanguard: Saga of Heroes for me next, this time 'because I say so'...see how that pans out in a fortnight!
